![for those that are unaware, NBC posted the pilot for Smash on itunes [for free, natch]. yesterday I dowloaded and used it for motivation to clean my room before ultimately abandoning that project to go work out.
it is being touted as glee for adults and yes, there are occasionally people breaking out into song but unlike glee the show tends use mostly original music with a few exceptions during audition songs. the show treads in familiar tropes and yet it somehow works-at least for me. katherine mcphee was not my favorite but everyone else [minus her boyfriend] was great.
I unabashedly love all things broadway and must say that I loved the behind the scenes drama involved in putting together a musical, the songs and the dancing. oh and megan hilty was fantastic. I cannot wait to see it all unfold [and listen to the music!] as the show goes on.
